Inside Pete Davidson's life as a new father

Comedian and actor Pete Davidson has embraced fatherhood with the same raw honesty and humor he brings to his stand-up. The Saturday Night Live alum welcomed daughter Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson in December 2025 with model and actress Elsie Hewitt. Since then, Davidson has opened up about the profound joy, exhaustion, and protectiveness that come with being a dad—and how it has reshaped his priorities and career.

Davidson’s journey to fatherhood began long before he met Hewitt. Raised by a single mother after his firefighter father, Scott Davidson, died in the 9/11 attacks, the 32-year-old recalls telling his mom as a child, “I want to be a dad.” In a 2025 interview on The Breakfast Club, he explained, “I always wanted to be a dad because I felt so crappy, and I wanted to make sure that a kid didn’t feel that way or have to go through what I went through.” That childhood wish became a reality when Hewitt revealed her pregnancy. Davidson described feeling the same excitement he had as a little boy—a rare, unwavering sense of purpose.

The Story Behind Scottie Rose

The couple, who met through mutual friends, felt an immediate connection. Hewitt recalled telling Davidson on their first dinner date, “Don’t think I’m crazy, but I just know that you’re going to be the father of my children.” Davidson replied, “I know.” Four months after going Instagram official in spring 2025, they announced they were expecting. Their daughter arrived on December 12, 2025, and Hewitt later posted, “My best work yet… I am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude.”

The name Scottie is a tribute to Davidson’s late father, as well as a nod to the couple’s trip to Scotland, where the baby was conceived. The middle name Rose honours Hewitt’s own middle name, which she shares with her sisters—a family tradition tying back to her mother’s maiden name.

Fatherhood’s Transformative Power

Davidson has spoken candidly about how fatherhood has changed his outlook. “I’ve always had anxiety about people pleasing and wanting to be the best at everything,” he admitted. “But now I’m like, ‘If I could do that, that’d be cool. But if not, I get to hang out with [Scottie].’ You genuinely don’t care as much, if at all, about anything else—like movies or being in f‑‑cking whatever.” The self-described “dad life” has brought clichés to life: “It’s so much fun. It’s nuts.” He’s also learned the gritty realities of diaper duty: “They crap so much. They crap while they’re crapping. And then you’ll put ointment on and then they’ll be like, ‘Psyche!’”

To embrace his new role, Davidson acquired a custom minivan built with help from eBay—complete with a VHS player, changing table, fridge, and a Baby Brezza. He also got a new tattoo: Scottie’s name on the side of his head, next to his ear, as part of his ongoing tattoo removal journey. His protective instincts have sharpened. “You’re just ready to fight anyone,” he told People in March 2026. “If one paparazzi guy pops out, I’m going to f‑‑‑king beat the living s‑‑‑t out of him. That’s a weird gear because I’m not a fighter guy.”

Co‑Parenting and Split Speculation

Though Davidson and Hewitt appeared solid during the pregnancy and early months, rumors of a split surfaced in May 2026 when Hewitt posted a TikTok hinting at single parenthood: “I have a baby to take care of … and I’m doing it on my own, which is hard.” However, a source told E! News that Davidson is “fully financially supporting the child and Elsie” and remains “100 percent present in Scottie’s life.” Davidson himself keeps his personal life mostly private, but occasionally offers glimpses: on his podcast The Pete Davidson Show, he revealed he’s eager to introduce Scottie to SpongeBob SquarePants.

Davidson’s career continues to evolve. After leaving SNL in 2022, he starred in films like The King of Staten Island and Bodies Bodies Bodies, and remains a headlining comedian. He has also been open about his struggles with mental health, including borderline personality disorder and PTSD, often using his comedy to process trauma. Now, fatherhood offers a new lens. “Dad life is f‑‑king awesome,” he told People. “It is exhausting and rewarding and cute. And I’m very lucky because Elsie is a fantastic mom.”

As Davidson navigates co‑parenting and his own growth, his focus remains on being the dad he always wanted to be. Whether building a custom minivan or sharing a cartoon with his daughter, he is living out the childhood dream he once described to his mother. The next chapter may bring new challenges, but for now, Pete Davidson is learning that being a dad is the role he was always meant to play.
