Delhi Elections: 19.95% Voter Turnout Till 11 AM!
Polling for the Delhi Assembly elections has begun with a 19.95% voter turnout by 11 AM. Key figures, including President Droupadi Murmu and Rahul Gandhi, voted early. Alongside Delhi elections, by-elections are happening in Erode East and Milkipur with notable voter turnout.
New Delhi: Polling for the Delhi Assembly elections is ongoing. Voting began at 7 AM, and by 11 AM, officials reported a 19.95% voter turnout. Several prominent figures, including President Droupadi Murmu, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, and Union Minister S. Jaishankar, exercised their voting rights in the first hour.
A total of 699 candidates are contesting in the Delhi Assembly elections, with voters casting their ballots across 13,766 polling stations in 70 constituencies to decide their fate. Additionally, 6,980 out of 7,553 eligible home voters have already cast their votes. The vote counting will take place on the 8th of this month, and results will be announced thereafter.
Meanwhile, by-elections are also taking place in Erode East (Tamil Nadu) and Milkipur (Uttar Pradesh) alongside the Delhi elections. The voter turnout in these areas has been recorded at 26.03% and 29.86%, respectively. The by-election in Erode East became necessary due to the death of MLA EVKS Elangovan, and the Milkipur by-election in Ayodhya district is being closely contested between the Samajwadi Party and BJP (Vaartha).
